Effect of Burns over Speech: In Context to Dying Declaration

The dying declaration remains important evidence in trials of burned victims India. However, its evidentiary value is often negated because facial involvement or larger body area involved due to burns may make incapable speaking properly. Hence, this study aimed the effect burn on speech relation parameters like age, gender, and total surface affected (TBSA). included eighty patients having injuries over head, neck, face, upper chest. They were evaluated longitudinally from time infliction at six hourly intervals, 6 hours, 12 18 24 hours. was assessed using a scale components orientation, content, coherence, articulation. well preserved maximally age groups (21-40 years); found be varying area. While considering gender speech, it observed that relatively unaffected females; fact, females can tolerate better than males have well-preserved speech. above findings constant all-time i.e., Overall, disproves notion greater (TBSA) cannot give valid declaration.
